Community Acupuncture is performed in a comfortable group setting with patients treated clothed and in recliners.  Acupuncture points are used which are located mostly from the elbows and knees down, or on the head or ears.  All of the acupuncture channels are accessible this way, and treatments can be effective for problems associated with any part of the body.   Intakes are done privately or in whispers so confidentiality is respected.  Once the needles are placed the patient is allowed to decide when their treatment ends, allowing full time to relax and let their body respond, usually anywhere from 1/2 hr to 1 1/2 hours. The cost of treatment is on a sliding scale from $15- $35 per treatment with a one-time $10 paper work fee.  Cost is based on what is affordable, you decide what to pay.
Jenny Corbin began living and working in Philadelphia in 2000 after finishing a 4-year masters in oriental medicine program at the International Institute of Chinese Medicine in Albuquerque, NM.  Her work experience in Philadelphia began with treating patients in a physical therapy office and as a pharmacist for China Herb Company.  For 4 years she also worked in a non-profit clinic treating people living with HIV/ AIDS.   She has maintained a private practice treating a wide variety of complaints, with a strong interest in treating women’s health, fertility, and pregnancy related issues.  She has always felt a sense of need to make acupuncture accessible to those not able to afford the out of pocket expense of normal acupuncture treatments.  After attending a course led by the founders of Working Class Acupuncture in Portland Oregon, she decided that community acupuncture offers a solution to both herself and her clients.  She is very excited to bring her community clinic to Angler, and to the Fishtown neighborhood.
